Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

The BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management is designed for team leaders/supervisors and employees acting in (or recently promoted to) a front-line management position, or those wishing to revise their knowledge or skills. Businesses often promote good staff to leadership roles, but forget to support them in gaining the leadership skills they will need in order to get the most from their teams.

When you have completed the leadership development program and the related evaluation/ practical assignment you should be able to:

  • Identify expectations of the supervisor’s role.

  • Identify and apply key skills of communication, motivation and delegation.

  • Resolve conflict effectively.

  • Apply appropriate leadership skills to situations.

  • Motivate employees to increase productivity.

  • Develop team skills and accountability.

This course introduces existing or potential supervisors and specialists to the fundamentals of the role of a supervisor whilst also providing exposure to structured systems and processes.

This qualification assumes that a learner has current or past work experience where operational or technical skills have already been gained and a supervisory, facilitation or similar level of responsibility exists. The qualification is not suitable for direct entry from school.

Typically, the implementation work will be undertaken with a combination of theory and projects. This provides an opportunity to address a specific issue or area and achieve defined outcomes. Corporate Partners programs are delivered through structured on-the-job learning, workshops and include one-to-one guidance and coaching for clients when required.

Training and Assessment sessions are conducted with the learners in a client company workplace, on the job or blended learning utilising the company’s facilities. This program is ideal for skills development and demonstrating competency so any skills program should incorporate or be embedded within real work activities.

BSB42015 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management is typically 12 months to complete. This time will vary due to learners taking leave, holidays or other leave during the program.
